Amitabh Bachchan took to his X handle to confirm the news, sharing a screenshot of an article that announced Abhishek's role as the antagonist in King. Expressing his pride and excitement, Amitabh wrote, “All the best Abhishek… It is TIME!!!” He also praised Abhishek's previous performances in films like Raavan, where he played a compelling antagonist.

The buzz around King began when Shah Rukh and Suhana were spotted in London after attending the lavish Ambani wedding, preparing for the upcoming shoot. According to Peeping Moon, a source close to the project revealed, “King presents him (Abhishek) in an out-and-out negative role for the first time in such a large-scale commercial movie, and he is sure to make a significant impact with his performance.

The film is set to begin shooting in May this year. Siddharth Anand and Sujoy Ghosh have been in constant touch with Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana Khan, holding multiple meetings from October 2023 to February 2024 to fine-tune the script. Sujoy Ghosh is meticulously crafting the narrative with Siddharth Anand and SRK, ensuring world-class action sequences.
Trainers of international repute are being brought in to train Suhana and Shah Rukh, as King will showcase a “slightly raw form of action.” A source told Pinkvilla, “Sujoy has started casting for the ensemble cast as the idea is to take off from May 2024 and make it the big ticket offering from SRK in 2025.”
The action in King will be distinct from what audiences have seen in Pathaan and Jawan, featuring numerous chase sequences and a plot driven by emotions and twists.
Shah Rukh Khan is reportedly stepping away from his good guy image for King. This action-thriller will see him delve into the world of gangsters, reminiscent of his iconic grey characters in films like Baazigar, Josh, and Raees.
